The Covid-19 pandemic continues to impact all of us, and artists have been hit especially hard as shows are canceled for the foreseeable future. This is a dark time for everyone, but music turned out to be one of the less protected categories: I don’t think only about artists, but also about sound engineers, light technicians, backliners, tour managers, promoters, all those people without which, music in the way that you are used to knowing would not exist.
Since most artists face a complete loss of income, Bandcamp is waiving its revenue share for all sales on May 1, June 5, and July 3 (the first Friday of each month). We don’t know when all this will be over, so, it may sound simple, but the best way to help artists is with your direct financial support.
Many things are already moving and changing and I really hope that music and art will get back to being at the center of our life and society. This is a lifetime opportunity that we cannot afford to lose, to changing our world, and bringing music to a new, better level.
I’m actually working on two records and I look forward to bring this new music to your ears soon. But for now, if you still didn’t do it, I invite you to have a look at my page on Bandcamp and have a tour through my existing discography. Bandcamp is still the best digital platform: you can download music and artworks at the highest quality and read linear notes on how that specific record was produced.
Distance looks like an immense void now, but after this difficult time, when we’ll be able to share the same spaces and experiences again, music will reach a new, even better, dimension.
Tomorrow, stay tuned!
